TENDAI CHISOWA

Tendai Chisowa is a multi-faceted leader whose interests encompass biosciences, impact investing, and entrepreneurship. She received a fully funded fellowship to pursue her Neuroscience doctorate at the University of Cambridge in England, where she has implemented genomic editing and protein engineering to design new tools that identify mechanisms of obesity. Her scientific training experiences include the Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard and Johns Hopkins Hospital. During her time at Cambridge, Tendai worked as a strategist for viSHEbility, a social enterprise and talk show that highlights the marketplace advances of black women in the corporate sector. She also received invitations to preach and spread the message of God's love at various churches throughout England. Tendai currently also provides pro-bono business strategy and development guidance to entrepreneurs launching early stage ventures.
One of Tendai's earliest entrepreneurship experiences was founding and co-directing the Medical Reserve Corps, on her college campus. There, she worked with administrators to develop public health training programs for her local community. She also successfully led spring break trips to serve underserved youth in New York City. Passionate about empowering socioeconomic development in Africa, Tendai is looking forward to improving access to non-debt capital to African SMEs and facilitating inter-continental growth of foreign and African companies within Africa. Tendai holds a BA in Chemistry and Biology from Williams College, and is a PhD Candidate at the University of Cambridge.
